Rock Connection Status can be used as a summary indicator of where someone generally is—but it should not be treated as the system itself or as a precise tracker of movement.
Where am I in the life of the church?
🚨These Connection Statuses build upon one another. Known and Connected represent durable relational thresholds and are not removed once established. Contributing and Leading reflect active participation and responsibility and may change over time as an individual’s activity or role changes.
Once a person takes an initial step in the connection system (i.e. signs up for a connection event), a Community Guide is assigned to guide them through the connection system and ensure they remain known and supported on-going. This role represents relational awareness and care—not oversight, management, or spiritual supervision. The Community Guide is the person who would notice if someone begins to drift and help ensure appropriate follow‑up or handoff when needed. Each person has one Community Guide at a time to prevent diffusion of responsibility, while still encouraging many healthy relationships across the church. The Community Guide may change over time as relational proximity naturally shifts, with intentional handoffs to ensure no one becomes invisible.
Tools could be put in place to help guides find individuals assigned to them who many need contact. Communications could be sent to them to just see how they are doing.
Community guides will typically be assigned to the family, but in certain cases different guides could be assigned to individuals within the family. With this plan efficiency is stewarded, but never at the expense of noticing people.
We need to track first contact date and know if this has been done. In a sense it's hard not to have a record in the system and not have first contact already as how else did we get their information.
